Streamers as Valorant Characters Project!
Independent Project Artist Statement
For my independent project I took some of my favourite streamers and put them in a video game called valorant. I designed them as characters in the game and gave them unique abilities. To describe the style of my art project, I would have to describe it as a mix of mine as well as the video game Valorant’s art style. Their style is very blocky and simple with no line art, so with this project I adapted my style to fit theirs. I changed my art style to become more blocky and used simpler colours. I did not exclude the line art considering that is my favourite part of creating art. I'd say I took a huge influence from the streamers and their personalities, they heavily influenced the end product of my art. The video game was also a big influence on how I created my project, after all my project was supposed to be based inside the game itself. I used almost the same process I always use when creating digital art: sketch, line art, base colours, shading, and then background. The biggest adjustment was using pictures of the streamers themselves on the sketch layer to make sure I got the faces right. Something I learned while creating this project would be that, it's okay to loosen up when creating. I always used to be very stiff when it came to art as in, these lines have to be here and look like this. The project helped me expand my knowledge of perspective and colour which helped me relax a little when creating art.
My favourite drawing in my series is the drawing of Corpse (purple based drawing). It's my favourite because it was the one that I had to consider the design of the most, and I really liked how the pose and colours appeared on the end product. If I could change something about this piece, I would probably make it in darker colours. The colours I used were good but didn't suit him as much as I would've liked. I think the darker colours for this streamer the better. When I was making this piece one of the things that surprised me the most was I thought the colours I was using were darker, but the lighting in the room fooled my eyes. So when I saw the picture in different lighting I was very surprised at how it turned out. Overall this project has to be one of my top works and I'm super proud of it.
