Yu-Gi-Oh!
I chose to do this project because I wanted to experiment with watercolour, also because Yu-Gi-Oh! Was the first show that inspired me to create art. The show has complex character designs in both the main characters, side characters, and the card game characters. The intricacy of the designs is extremely inspiring, and something I hope to achieve in my future endeavors. The project helped me develop my skills and experiment. I used watercolour; which was already decided from the beginning of my idea. To shade my first two paintings I used alcohol markers, this idea did not last long as I found they ran out fast especially on the scale I used them. My solution to this was to use the watercolour in layers to darken the colours, and after I bought metallic paint pens to make the highlights of the paintings pop. This solution was not so difficult to come to but figuring out what medium to use on the paintings for this effect proved difficult. In the end creating these paintings based on the characters I grew up loving was a lot of fun, and inspired me once again to create more.
